New Kent County's Fire and EMS department is part of a regional interoperability agreement with other agencies in the Richmond Capital Region. Each agency in the region is assigned a number from 1 - 16. New Kent is assigned 5. Dispatchers will call for "Engine 501" instead of "Engine 1", and road units will call themselves by their respective 500-series number.
