News July 2018

• MORTON — There won’t be any dispatchers at the Morton Police Station starting Monday morning.

“The plan is to flip a switch at 9 o’clock next Monday morning and go live,” Morton Police Chief Craig Hillard said Monday to Village Board trustees, informing them about the planned starting time for the state-mandated consolidated Tazewell County emergency dispatch system.

Tazewell County Consolidated Communications will have dispatch centers at the Morton Police Station and Tazewell/Pekin Consolidated Communications Center in Pekin, also known as Tazcomm, after construction and installation work are completed next summer on a new Morton dispatch center.

Dispatch centers at the Washington Police Station and East Peoria Police Station will close.

In the meantime, Morton calls will be answered in East Peoria.
