A budgeted item, this replaces the phone line that transmits the radio signal from the Glen Carbon Police Department Dispatch Center to the base of the radio tower behind Maryville Village Hall to activate the firemen’s pagers. According to Deputy Fire Chief George May, the county was paying in excess of $900 per month to Call One for the use of this phone line and that the radio repeater will pay for itself in seven months. “The radio repeater will give us the ability to not have to use the phone line anymore,” he said.

+ | '''The replacement of the City's outdoor warning system is nearing completion!''' 4/19/24 </br>
+ | The system that's being replaced – which had been in place for decades and included sirens that were over 40 years old – used a manually-activated process that required City Communications Technicians to receive information of a tornado warning via a teletype or email, acknowledge that they had the information and set off ALL of the City's sirens at once from the Communications Center located in the Collinsville Illinois Police Department. Because of their age, replacement parts were no longer available for these sirens and their failure rate was high.
+ | * Instead of relying on manual activations, the new siren system uses more advanced technology that’s connected to the National Weather Service’s polygon warning system, which improves accuracy and quality. According to the NOAA and NWS, this allows your local NOAA NWS Weather Forecast Office to "be able to narrow their focus on a portion of a county (or counties) that have the greatest threat for being impacted by severe weather." Once a tornado warning is issued for a polygon-based area, the sirens that are in said area automatically activate – NOT all of the City's sirens. If the siren(s) in your area sound, a tornado or destructive thunderstorm is projected by the NWS to be heading in your direction.
+ | |||
+ | * To date, seven sirens in the City's portion of Madison County have been replaced. The remaining five Madison County sirens are expected to be replaced by the end of April. Additionally, all but one of the sirens in the City's portion of St. Clair County have already been replaced – with the lone outdated siren expected to be replaced soon.
− | + | * The new sirens are solar-powered and driven by technology. While the distance the sound carries from a new siren is further than with the legacy system, it's worth noting that the new sirens have a bit of a different sound. It's also important to note that with both the new sirens as well as the ones being replaced, an outdoor warning system is designed to be heard outdoors only.

Village officials said they plan to use Station 2, on West Delmar, for the Godfrey Public Works Department. Plans originally called for Station 1 to be sold at auction.
+ | * The village plans to take ownership of Station 1 in January when the new consolidated firehouse is completed. Officials have said relocating Godfrey’s fire services into a single building, with all equipment housed in one central location, will allow for better emergency response and more efficient manpower allocation.

- 2/27/20 - The purchase of a VHF radio repeater from Wireless USA at a cost of $6,764 was also approved.

Siren System Upgrade (4/8/12)
- Global Technical Systems Inc. submitted bids which included one that would essentially replace the system at a cost of $64,650
- Even with the $6,000 repair proposal, the village will be able to switch to a digital transmission system. That, then, will enable the Glen Carbon Police Department, which handles dispatching services for Maryville to activate the warning system, according to the Police Chief. Currently, Maryville’s system must be activated from inside the police station, which isn’t always easy when patrolmen are out at night.
- Maryville’s emergency warning system is tested at 10 a.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

Interim Coordinator Burris introduced Wood River Fire Chief Brendon McKee. Chief McKee gave a presentation on radio needs and communication issues. He introduced Cory Heuchert from Edwardsville Fire Department and Stan Foiles with Data Tronics for any technical questions. He reported that after the East Alton PSAP consolidated with the Wood River PSAP the surrounding areas have had increased problems with radio communications. He spoke on: safety issues for fire and police personnel; technical issues; interoperability issues; possible solutions such as a voter analog system, Starcom, and a pilot program for a digital radio system; and costs. He asked the ETSB to be receptive of supporting a digital radio system in the immediate area (Wood River, East Alton, Bethalto, etc.) for use as a pilot program to then eventually implement across the County. The cost and scope of the project is still being evaluated. Mr. Petrokovich confirmed the issues the Wood River area is experiencing and spoke on radio communication needs to backup PSAPs

The replacement of the City's outdoor warning system is nearing completion! 4/19/24
The system that's being replaced – which had been in place for decades and included sirens that were over 40 years old – used a manually-activated process that required City Communications Technicians to receive information of a tornado warning via a teletype or email, acknowledge that they had the information and set off ALL of the City's sirens at once from the Communications Center located in the Collinsville Illinois Police Department. Because of their age, replacement parts were no longer available for these sirens and their failure rate was high.
- Instead of relying on manual activations, the new siren system uses more advanced technology that’s connected to the National Weather Service’s polygon warning system, which improves accuracy and quality.
- To date, seven sirens in the City's portion of Madison County have been replaced. The remaining five Madison County sirens are expected to be replaced by the end of April. Additionally, all but one of the sirens in the City's portion of St. Clair County have already been replaced – with the lone outdated siren expected to be replaced soon.
- The new sirens are solar-powered and driven by technology. While the distance the sound carries from a new siren is further than with the legacy system, it's worth noting that the new sirens have a bit of a different sound. It's also important to note that with both the new sirens as well as the ones being replaced, an outdoor warning system is designed to be heard outdoors only.

9/24 Village trustees are finalizing plans to lease Godfrey Fire Station #1 to Survival Flight 5, an air EMS service based in Jerseyville.
- Currently consolidating two fire stations into one new facility on Godfrey Road, plans to be completely moved out of both current stations by the middle of January 2024.
- "As far as the service it will provide to Godfrey, it's needed," McCormick said. "I think us, as a board, should be elated that we got an ambulance service wanting to come help a community like us."
- The current Godfrey fire stations at 6011 Godfrey Road and 1712 West Delmar Ave. are scheduled to be closed following completion of the Godfrey firehouse now under construction on Godfrey Road. Village officials said they plan to use Station 2, on West Delmar, for the Godfrey Public Works Department. Plans originally called for Station 1 to be sold at auction.
- The village plans to take ownership of Station 1 in January when the new consolidated firehouse is completed. Officials have said relocating Godfrey’s fire services into a single building, with all equipment housed in one central location, will allow for better emergency response and more efficient manpower allocation.
Survival Flight recently opened a new ground transportation base facility at 230 N Old Saint Louis Rd. in Wood River, Ill. Survival Flight’s local air transportation base facility is in Jerseyville, Ill.
