The State of Colorado is served by several Air Ambulance companies that operate across the state and region. Some frequency information can be found on the {{DB|a|3389|Medical Helicopters Agency Page}} for Colorado. Please note, within the last few years it has become more difficult to monitor AirMedical Talkgroup's on the DTR system. This is because system administrators are now restricting certain AirMedical talkgroups from affiliating on various wide-area coverage DTR sites throughout the State.  In fact, there are five "aircraft only" DTR sites in mostly rural areas.

Scanning Colorado Air Medical Services

The State of Colorado is served by several Air Ambulance companies that operate across the state and region. Some frequency information can be found on the Medical Helicopters Agency Page for Colorado.

Flight for Life Colorado

Established in 1972, Flight for Life Colorado was the first hospital-based air ambulance program in the United States. Part of the Centura Health Network and based out of St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Flight for Life serves the entire Rocky Mountain Region with fixed wing, rotor wing, and ground based equipment. Rotor wing equipment is leased from Air Methods, Inc. while fixed wing aircraft is leased from and operated by Mayo Aviation based out of the Centennial Airport.

Flight for Life Colorado is dispatched by the St. Anthony Communications Center located at St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood. Calls are dispatched by Nextel and alphanumeric pager.

Helicopters

Since this is a larger operation it's not uncommon to shuffle aircraft around as needed during special events, and maintenance.
The Lifeguard call sign stays with the location, but the tail number may vary depending on which ship is in service at that location.
i.e. LG3 will almost always be the St. Francis aircraft, even though they may be flying the N493LG aircraft

Recent research 2/2021 indicates that there are several aircraft changes in the past year.
Specific assignments listed below may be incorrect

  • Lifeguard 1 (N491LG) - St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 2 (N399LG) - Summit Medical Center (Frisco, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 3 (N493LG) - St. Francis Medical Center (Colorado Springs, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 4 (N494LG) - St. Mary-Corwin Medical Center (Pueblo, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 5 (N496LG, ex N396LG) - Mercy Regional Medical Center (Durango, Colorado) - new tail number in 2020 old ship is flying in AK
  • Backup A/C (N391LG) - St. Anthony Hospital (Lakewood, Colorado)
  • Lifeguard 8 - callsign used during special events

Fixed Wing Aircraft

  • 312LG (N312LG) - Centennial Airport, LearJet 35 (Englewood, Colorado) (Was N222BE)
