Evergy is the merged companies of Westar and Great Plains Energy. Great Plains Energy is the former Kansas City Power and Light and Missouri Public Service (also known as Aquila Energy or Utilicorp/United)
This system is replacing both the existing Westar Motorola System and the Great Plains Energy Motorola System. As of late 2023, this system has replaced the Evergy VHF system, which is no longer on the air, There is a separate DMR Tier 3 radio system in Burlington, Kansas for the Wolf Creek Power Plant operations (Wolf Creek is 94% owned by Evergy as Westar and Great Plains had part-ownership of the plant prior to their merger, with the Kansas Electric Power Cooperative owning the remaining 6%).
As of December 2021, there are 101 sites with licenses pending with the FCC, as a result of the Anterix (pdvWireless) 900Mhz rebanding/frequency swap.
LRRP is enabled, providing location data/direction/speed for radios that are enabled.
