Wavelength

From The RadioReference Wiki

Introduction

The term wavelength refers to the length of a radio wave; or more precisely the length from peak to peak. Wavelengths correlate directly with frequency (cycles per second).

Calculations

  • If you want to determine the wavelength in meters from frequency in MHz, simply divide 300 by the frequency.
    • 300/150MHz = 2 meters.
  • If you want to determine the frequency in MHz from the wavelength in meters, simply divide 300 by the wavelength.
    • 300/6 meters = 50MHz.

Common Ham Band Wavelengths

  • 6 meters = 50-54MHz
  • 2 meters = 144-148MHz
  • 70 centimeters = 420-450MHz
