The Whistler Official Upgrade procedure, is with a Paid Upgrade where the User pays for shipment to Whistler -  Whistler then applies a new Boot Loader & Firmware Upgrade, then returned postage is paid by Whistler. Unofficial hacked versions, that are locked or contain hacked Whistler Firmware will cost a minimum of: one way shipping plus $120. How do I know if my scanner is LOCKED?

  • Check by Manually Programming a local DMR frequency and monitor for cleanly decoded DMR transmissions.
  • Check to see which Splash Screen you have, if you have the 'Radio Shack' or 'GRE' logos, they are ones without hacked firmware, if the have a Whistler logo they could be Official Upgrade or hacked.
